Happy Sunday, friends. I'm gonna be real with you for a minute. When I originally planned this whole Revolution series, I had every intention of showing up every single day with a brand new lesson. I have pages and pages of notes, I know where we're headed next, and I was honestly so excited to finally start having these conversations with all of you. But after our first few days of the series, I woke up this morning and guys.... I'm tired. Not in an "I don't want to do this anymore" way. Quite the opposite, actually. This has been one of the most exciting things I've created in a really long time. I've loved reading your emails, seeing your comments, watching the conversations happening in the Bridge Academy Facebook group, and hearing so many of you share how you're already shifting your beliefs about learning just from our first few days. Which is exactly why I wanted to do this series - to help you start making those subtle shifts no matter how long you've been on this journey of deschooling and homeschooling. But I also caught myself starting to feel that little voice in my head the moment I woke up every morning saying, "Okay Leah...you have to get today's lesson out!" And isn't that exactly what we're trying to move away from? (yeah, I'm still on this deschooling journey myself). The whole point of this Revolution is that learning isn't about constantly performing. It isn't about checking boxes or keeping up or making sure you never miss a day. It's about slowing down enough to actually think. To let ideas settle. To notice what they're changing inside of us. So that's what we're going to do today. No big lesson. No new concept to deconstruct. Just a nice little check-in and a chance to catch up if you've missed anything. Over the last few days we've talked about separating school from learning. We've talked about the formula for learning and what we need to make meaningful learning stick. We've talked about motivation, information, and the difference between sharing information with our children versus expecting them to perform that information back to us. This foundation is CRITICAL to understanding what we know and believe about how learning happens. And I don't want you to rush past those conversations just because there's another email waiting in your inbox every morning. Instead, today, I want you to ask yourself one simple question: Which idea has been following you around these last few days? You know what I mean.... The one that you've caught yourself thinking about while you're driving or brought up to your partner a few times or has made you start looking at your child a little bit differently. That's probably the conversation your brain is still working on. So let it. Some of the deepest learning happens after the information is consumed, when we finally have enough space to connect it to our own lives. Today, don't worry about learning something new. Go be with your family. Read a book. Go for a walk. Watch a soccer game. Bake something with your kids. Maybe even notice where motivation naturally showed up after the conversations we've been having this week. And if you've fallen behind in the Revolution content... Good. Seriously. This isn't a challenge you're supposed to keep up with. I'm specifically NOT calling it a challenge for that reason. It's a conversation that's meant to go at the pace you're working at individually. Tomorrow we're going to start unpacking how we've defined success, why we've become so attached to measuring it, and what that has quietly taught us about ourselves and our children. Until then... Go enjoy your family. That's kind of the whole point of this anyway. 🫶🏽 Leah PS... I may be taking the day off too, but I still want to hear from you! What are you thinking about this week? What revelations are you having? What questions do you have about Bridge Academy or the Revolution? Hit reply and let me know! |
Hi friends, We're back! In our last email, we talked about the idea that every family already has a routine. Whether it's intentional or not, there are rhythms that naturally emerge throughout your day. The goal isn't to throw all of those away and replace them with a beautiful color-coded schedule. The goal is to notice what's already working and build from there. Today I want to introduce you to one of my favorite concepts when it comes to creating a homeschool routine: touchpoints....
How many times have you laid in bed at the end of a long, frustrating day, and thought to yourself "we just need a better routine"? 🙋🏽♀️ GUILTY. Usually in those moments, what we're picturing is some beautifully organized homeschool schedule where everyone wakes up happy, breakfast is on the table at exactly the right time, you all sit down for a learning project, you're fully prepared and have stuff planned out, the kids are perfectly engaged, everyone is focused and productive, and the day...
Hey everyone! I apologize for the delay in this follow-up to our last Revolution email. Some family and life events turned the last few days into what felt simultaneously like minutes and years. But... hopefully the time out gave you all a chance to create your House Map and now you're ready for the next step! If you haven't gathered the data yet, don't worry. Pick a normal day this week and do it. I promise it's worth the effort. Today I want to talk about what you're actually looking for...
